Positive Crossdresser Stereotypes

by Jessica De Leon on June 16, 2009

Whether you are a crossdresser or not, you are undoubtedly familiar with many of the common stereotypes about us. Unfortunately, not enough has been done in society to disspell these rumors, but this is changing. Through literature and activism we see social change, and rather than sit and complain, we are actively trying to get the truth out about just who crossdressers are and what we are all about.

I have decided to start some positive crossdresser myths. The kinds of stereotypes that would help rather than hurt our reputations and shed some new light on our community.

However, I can’t do this alone. I am asking for your help in the comments section, please leave a crossdresser stereotype or two that is positive.

Of course, I’ll start things off:

All crossdressers are extremely smart, it takes a keen intellect to be able to transcend traditional gender molds while analyzing them cloesly.

Rachel sends this one in:

Crossdressers are more sympathetic and caring partners. And better lovers who want to cuddle after making love!

I hope that this offers an idea of what I intend to do with this post. How cool would it be if you came out to a friend or family member and the first thing they said to you was something about how intelligent you must be? That the idea of a man dressing as a woman suggests some sort of genius is quite a neat concept.

This will be an ever-chaning post; the more comments and ideas I get, the longer the article will be. Now it’s your turn, cook up a constructive crossdresser myth and let’s start changing things together.
