A names an odd thing. One to choose & settle on I guess is not a small choice. Mine sort of chose me & possibly comes from an odd source.
My mind set about Lara started off a a terribly pessemistic one.
The old phrase ‘lifes a bitch & then you die’, as pessemistic as you can be. Well being a sailor I have have a simular variation , ‘ Lifes a reach & then you gybe’ I.e all sailing along nicely & then something nasty happens . That used to be my mind set. The attitude has changed , but my name remains. L.a.r.a. T.y.g. is just an accronym of the above.
phrase. (I do find it annoying when folk say ‘Lara ….as in Croft !’ though!)

Great post, Jessica! And all 3 of those Jessicas are amazing, I agree.

My name was picked rather randomly. My wife sat down the first day I dressed up and started listing names off. I think Savanna was the second name she listed and it just hit me. It just sounded so feminine, soft, pleasant. I immediately chose it and have stuck with it. I like that it seems pretty rare as well =)

Great post, Jessica! I enjoyed it.

The name issue is one I’ve given a lot of thought over the years. I, too, once considered using my “would have been” birth name. I didn’t, because when I first chose my name I had a friend who was also named Tiffany, so it just seemed like a weird thing to do. My name comes from a little game I played in my head as a kid. I never had a nickname growing up, but several people did call me by my initials – “K.D.” Whenever I heard that, I would mentally interpret it as “Katie,” and would thrill at the notion of being called a girl!

Jessica is a beautiful name by the way; I’m happy for you that you decided to keep it.

My name is the one chosen by my mother had I arrived as the female I shoulda been. I was born a few months after Lesley Anne Warren made a big splash in TV’s Cinderella. I suspect that was Mom’s inspiration. Not a bad namesake. And maybe one day, if I share this aspect of myself with my mother, she’ll be flattered that I chose it.

No Jessica Rabbit?

What’s in a name? There’s a question… mine came from the need for a generic username in a chatroom (no, not that type of chatroom) and I’d use ‘Linn’. Not exactly sure to this day, but I guess not M nor F and not necessarily English either.

Anyways, as my TG activities increased… well, you can’t be all dressed up and call yourself Frank now can you? So, I settled on Lynn.
