Without the experience that many GGs (genetic girls) acquire, many crossdressers are clueless as to how to go about fashion and makeup. We are constantly posting threads seeking the advice of our more knowledgeable sisters in an effort to appear more feminine when we dress.
I am certainly no stranger to ignorance when it comes to ladies fashion, though I am much better now than I was a few years ago. Practice makes perfect, but women’s styles are constantly evolving so it can be a bit overwhelming when trying to keep up.
With this in mind, I look at my wife as incredible inspiration. Her sense of fashion is amazing yet grounded and she is a terrific makeup artist. I am quite blessed that she is supportive enough to help me with Jessica’s outfits and looks, without her I would be a trans-wreck, as I am not quite as skilled as I would like to be in these categories.
Shopping with my wife is always an incredible experience, she envisions different pieces of clothing coming together to form fantastic ensembles, even if we are in the cheap stores. When it comes to women’s fashion, she is my number one inspiration.
Most of you have always dealt with the duality of finding a woman attractive yet wanting to look like her at the same time, it can be very strange at first. During my first year of college I constantly found myself thinking “Wow, that girl is hot … where did she get that top?” and thinking that I was a bit odd.
Okay, so I don’t want to look like my wife but I do learn so much from her personal style. We watch fashion shows together, share magazines and discuss the latest trends. When she goes out shopping and comes back with a new outfit, I find myself wanting the same thing for myself.
I look on intently when she is doing her makeup, always asking for tips and she gladly gives them to me. Sometimes I can lean a bit too heavily on her advice, after all I do want to develop my own sense of style. Overall, I count myself very lucky to have a wife who not only encourages Jessica but also extends that helping hand that most of us transvestites need.
So, who or what inspires you? Do you look to celebrities, magazines or local girls for examples of fashion and makeup? Ever find yourself walking through the mall and looking really hard at the mannequins, desperately trying to memorize what they’re wearing? I’d like to hear what motivates or has motivated your own personal style as it pertains to women’s fashion.

Crikey, there’s a question. You know, I’m not sure!
I think it’s mainly what other ladies are wearing…. I watch what trends – rather than fashions from shops – are working for people. If I think it’ll suit me, I’ll probably try it out. Sometimes I’ll see something in a magazine, but I see more walking about really.
Make-up wise I tend to stick to what I know, but again, I keep an eye out via magazines or on-line to see what’s new. I’m afraid I tend to be a bit ‘classic’ with make-up. I don’t go for super-brights or high fashion trends.
Hey Lynn,
Yea, I also tend to watch what other girls my age are wearing. Sometimes they can provide great ideas, and they probably just think I’m checking them out, if only they knew
!
Magazines are great for the latest trends, we buy Lucky magazine and really get a lot out of it. We also watch Mirror, Mirror a lot and they are just great for fashion tips.
Once, when my wife and I went shopping for me, I felt so overwhelmed in trying to find things for myself. She told me to just relax and look at how the mannequins were put together, then work from there. You know, it actually worked for me and I find myself doing it a lot now

Every place I go Im watching how women dress and what their styles are. Many are not very good examples and the good ones are easy to spot. I have a friend who takes me shopping. She will look for things for me but Im getting pretty good at finding my own styles these days. She helps with make up but I have to expermint more as she is into one look and I want many. I do read Shape and Self magazine while I’m at the gym. Now why am I the only guy reading these??Most girls learn one make up look and never change unless there is someone to help out. In my case my wife is terrible at make up so that is not an option.Makeovers can be fun as each makeup person has their own style.Ok I love a makeover who doesnt. Leslee
I get funny looks sometimes when I purchase Lucky magazine, but it’s funny to me. Oh yes, who doesn’t love a great makeover?
I get my inspiration from watching women. I can learn a lot
by just looking.
I personally don’t really have any inspiration in one women. I do like the idea of tall women in society. And it’s not the normal for women to be shorter than the guys. Being close to 6 feet and wear size 11 mens shoes. I have trouble get the things I want in my size.
My favorite actors is Lucy Lawless, Jerri Ryan. Why those two actoress one they are highly talented people. When I first saw Lucy Lawless in Xena. I thought she was a american born. Until I hear her talk in her reguar voice. Jerri Ryan in Star Trek Voyager in seven of nine. She talk in more highly education person.
The other Actors was the late great Vincent Price, Johnan Harrison, I think. They were some of few who could surprise you. A huff of that? I’m sidetreking now.
So funny! I do look at mannequins and try to memorize the looks! It has helped. My wife is a great inspiration too. She is awesome putting things together, and as you said — even at cheap stores. It’s truly amazing! She does give me fashion and makeup tips here and there which I happily sponge in. I do check out women I see both because of what they’re wearing and if they’re attractive. And InStyle magazine is a lot of fun to look at. I just went shopping last night for some Christmas clothes for my wife and the mannequins looked great at this one store. I bought her a lot and had to buy myself a top and a cami too! Damn well put together mannequins! She has also been out shopping for women’s clothes for me for Christmas. I can’t wait to see what awesomeness she has put together for me this time.
