Mainstream Crossdressing: Adam Lambert

by Jessica De Leon on October 28, 2009

While I watched the first couple of seasons of American Idol, I haven’t seen an episode in years, so I had never heard of Adam Lambert until today. My wife was perusing her daily Yahoo articles when she stumbled upon a post about Lambert, this year’s runner up.

Adam is releasing his solo debut album next month, entitled “For Your Entertainment” and the album cover is what caught Rebecca’s attention. She called me over and immediately suggested that I post it on the blog.

Read on to see the picture. . .

As you can see, Adam is glammed up to the max with some fabulous makeup and a slick androgynous hairstyle. It’s also got a bit of a retro feel to it and it’s almost enough for me to purchase the album for the cover alone.

Lambert is openly gay but I could not find any information on whether or not he is transgendered, enlighten me if you know the details.

Nope, not transgendered, just wonderfully gay. In his own words:

From his Rolling Stone cover interview,”Why can’t some men have strong feminine sides? Does that make them less of a man? I don’t know why our society has such an emphasis on masculinity and femininity–it’s really gross. I don’t think you’re truly sexy until you don’t care about that.”

Also from an interview last night: “I’ve loved David Bowie since I was a kid [and] artists like Michael Jackson, Prince [and] Mick Jagger,” Adam told Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts at the Los Angeles premiere of “This Is It” on Tuesday night. “There’s a lot of male rock stars in history that have kind of played with androgyny and I [am] just fascinated by that look so I wanted to do something like that for the album cover.”

The guy’s got a crazy awesome voice, a brain crammed full of creativity when it comes to presentation and performance, and a surprisingly earnest and funny demeanor offstage. I adore his album cover in all its retro glammy glory, and I really hope his music does well enough that he can continue to push the boundaries and blur the lines of gender expectations.

Looks like somebody had too much “alone” time in David Bowies bathroom…lol. While I’ve heard of him I’ve never listened to his music…but he sure is pretty :)
