In the Futurama episode “Bend Her”, Bender wants to compete with the female robots in the Olympics, so he convinces the Professor to perform a sex-change operation on him, which involves replacing his Testosteroil with Femmzoil. He takes on the name Coilette and competes for the fictitious country of Robonia.
The rest of the episode involves the events after the games and is pretty funny. I saw this episode on tv the other day but was unable to find the video. Then Rye/Alyssa left a comment reminding me of this episode and I checked again and was successful.
I’ve seen this episode a few times and really enjoy it, because of the gender bending and shenanigans that ensue as a result of Bender changing genders. You really have to watch the whole episode to get the most out of it.

I love Futurama, it can be surreal, geeky and have the pathos the early years of The Simpsons had. Its not the only trans reference from the original run either

BTW, I’m working on a blog post about my own gender bending adventure from several years back, complete with the photos. I’ll post it around Halloween, as there’s a theme involving stilettos, M&M’s candy and a crosstown metro bus.
LOL. There’s the wrestling episode too where Bender has to appear as ‘Gender Bender’. It still makes me laugh.
This is actually a different episode than the one I was referencing, I was talking about the “Gender Bender” one that Lynn Jones mentioned here too. Maybe Bender has more gender issues than he let on. Perhaps it’s the reason for his personality being so self destructive and impersonal?
