Transfashionista: Little Black Dress – Part 1

by Jessica De Leon on October 28, 2009

Welcome to a brand new series here at Jessica Who? entitled “Transfashionista”, where we will share our women’s fashion tips with you, everything from dresses to accessories.

I am happy to present the second surprise update to Jessica Who?, a new series of posts entitled Transfashionista. Today’s entry is kicking off a mini-series where we will showcase five different ways to wear one dress.

The “little black dress”, or LBD for short, is one of the most versatile articles of clothing in a woman’s closet and is practically a necessity in your wardrobe. Girlfriends, your LBD can go from casual to classy with the right accessories, going from a day look to a night look with just a little bit of effort.

To achieve flexibility make sure to choose a style that is flattering to your body type, one that has a lot of structure and something that makes you feel sexy yet comfortable. If your LBD has all these qualities then you can transform it into as many looks as you can imagine without anyone the wiser.

We will illustrate its versatility by showing a series of five different ways you can wear this style of LBD, a strapless pinstriped minidress with an empire waist. Today we demonstrate the LBD in a more conservative yet still fun and stylish way. You can wear this look to meet the family or to an evening work function. I dub it, “conservative chic”.

For this look, pair your LBD with a nice neutral or colored structured cardigan, a waist cinching belt (the thinner the better), a clutch and finish it off with a pair of your favorite mid heel pumps and layered pearls.

The key thing to remember is that you can use almost any length, style, pattern of black dress to achieve this look.

Very nice and informative article, can’t wait to read more on this series. Also, you looked very good in your picture. A couple of questions, please. Do you have to wear a waist chinching belt with this outfit? And second, can you wear some black hose with it too?

Thanks again and please keep up the good work on your site.

Veronica =)

Thank you girlfriend :) . You don’t have to wear the belt, but it helps to accent your body a little bit. And yes, you can absolutely wear black hose with them, perhaps I will use them in one of the outfits.

What a look! Love the sweater combo with the LBD, sweetie. And I agree – legs to DIE for!
