DVD Trailer

Starring
SIMON ABKARIAN, PATRICK J. ADAMS, RIZ AHMED, BOB BALABAN, ADRIANA BARRAZA, STEVE BUSCEMI, JAKOB CEDERGREN, LILY COLE, JUDI DENCH, EDDIE IZZARD, JUDE LAW, JOHN LEGUIZAMO,
DAVID OYELOWO and DIANNE WIEST

Defying the usual conventions of film, RAGE uses a radical narrative structure focusing entirely on individual performances to build a tragicomic portrait of people persuaded to reveal their secrets in the midst of a crisis. The film consists entirely of a dynamic series of interviews, as if shot by a schoolboy on his mobile phone. He goes behind-the-scenes at a New York fashion show during seven days in which an accident on the catwalk turns into a murder investigation.

Fourteen actors, both celebrated stars and exciting emerging talents, play characters who each have a role in the show, from the designer (Simon Abkarian) and his models (Lily Cole and Jude Law), the fashion critic (Judi Dench) and photographer (Steve Buscemi), through the seamstress (Adriana Barraza) to the fashion house financier (Eddie Izzard) and his bodyguard (John Leguizamo). As they start to confide in Michelangelo, the unseen schoolboy with his phone camera, their personal truths begin to surface and the reality of events taking place off screen at the show start to unravel.

Writer/director Sally Potter spent two days with each actor, shooting the character’s interviews against a blue screen, with just herself behind the camera and a sound recordist. Returning to this type of pure performance and intimate style of filmmaking was a liberating and challenging experience for both the cast and director.

Running Time: 95 mins / NOT RATED

Jessica good morning, the favorite film I have seen was Too Wong Foo starring Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo. The film starring such great actors put many crossdressers into reality mode.
I remember telling my wife,”Look at how good I can look?”
Being a girl, with all the make-up, dressing, the “walk”, “talk” and all else was inspiring to me.

My all time fav cross dressing film has to be SOME LIKE IT HOT (surprise!) – but my number 2 is JUST LIKE A WOMAN with Adrian Pasdar, followed closely by BREAKFAST ON PLUTO! ( — and DIFFERENT FOR GIRLS, too, but technically that’s not a “cross dressing” movie.)

This is hard! “Some like it hot” is such an obvious one and is the movie I could watch over and over again. I would vote for Fairwell myConcubine” but it is so long since I have seen it and it has never appeared on dvd so, it could have been quiet British movies like “Kinky Boots” or “Breakfast on Pluto” or the Oz ” Pricilla Queen of the Desert” which people seem to love or hate.”The Angry Inch” is fairly wild but, the winner is, please hand me the golden envelope, “Ma Vie en Rosé.”

Had to do some thinking to come up with a favorite. But I think it would be the Crying Game.

first – BREAKFAST ON PLUTO – then Too Wong Foo and Pricilla Queen of the Desert I liked them both equally – then The world according to garp – Then Trans America – then The Bird Cage with Robin Williams – then Crying Game – then The Angry Inch, it was better than I tough it was going to be

Never saw JUST LIKE A WOMAN – DIFFERENT FOR GIRLS – Ma Vie en Rosé – Zerophilia – I guess I have quite a few to look up on netflix

well Jess, I had think about this one. While I admit, I don’t think I’ve seen any of the ones listed above…I tend to shy away from movies based on some form of gender reversal because some of them seem to poke fun…so I dig deep and couldn’t believe I remembered this one existed. Back in the early 90’s a movie called “Ladybugs” about a kid who dressed up like a girl to play soccer. While I don’t remember much I do remember (unfortunatley) Rodney Dangerfield in a dress. I guess I’d have to say it’s one of my favorites by default, but also, because I was only in my tweens (lol) when it came out it kinda opened my eyes to some strange things that at the time I didn’t understand about myself at all. That seem to make sense a little now.

Stephanie hi, this is Louise and I saw the movie Ladybugs with Rodney Dangerfield and was also moved by the guy-girl thing involved. Being a girl inside for many years, even then I saw myself in many types of situations and this one on sports intrigued me.
Thank you for reminding me.

I think that “Dressed to Kill” is the very best of the psychotic murderous transvestite genre.

Mine is definitely Some Like it Hot

WOW! Lot’s of response to this post. I guess your contest is working. Of course I have to recuse myself from this contest, because I am far too witty and clever – the other entrants just wouldn’t stand a chance.

PS – “Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar”is my all-time gender bending film. Everytime I watch it, I catch something different. It’s just so far this side of ‘camp’ that it’s difficult not to like it!

And I’ll continue to promote you on Twitter. It’s fun recommending interesting people to follow.

Good luck to all!

I like an oldie, Some Like It Hot. It is an outstanding comedy with some great actors taking part.

19 Angie December 14, 2009 at 10:21 pm

Also of interest. The Closer tonight, December 14, featured Beau Bridges as a former detective who had undergone male to female srs. I found it an interesting show.
