I am writing to update my status in the experiment of wearing a bra every day – detailed in this post. It’s been slightly over one full week and thus I sat down to recap the first quarter of this adventure. So far my plan of writing down my thoughts or recording myself talking has not materialized though I did jot some notes down my first couple of days. Keep reading for my full results thus far.
Day One
Sunday evening after my nightly shower, I officially kicked things off. I put on a Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy push up bra and shortly after that, went to sleep. The next morning I woke up and immediately remembered what I was wearing and noted that I was excited to embark on this journey although the bra was a bit uncomfortable.
Throughout the day, the discomfort was not there and I went about my business. I was very aware that I was wearing it — in other words this was something new and different. Then, in the evening, I felt overwhelmed and doubted that I would be able to last a month. This whole thing just seemed daunting, but there was no real reason for me to stop so I simply continued on with the day.
Something to note as well: my skin was a bit irritated after a day or so of wearing this bra, but since then I haven’t experienced any more of this.
At Work
Although I didn’t work the full week I did go to the office for a few days and I certainly made no exception – I would be wearing a bra no matter what I was doing. Of course, I have to be discrete while at work so I came up with a solution — Over my shirt and tie I wore a work-appropriate sweater. This way there was no doubt that nobody could tell anything was out of the ordinary.
I was able to concentrate on my tasks without the bra causing any sort of distraction, although there were points throughout the days when I would suddenly feel the tightness of the bands or the underwires shift slightly. These little reminders were nice and encouraged me to keep on going.
Driving
Nothing much to report here as I have gone for drives en femme before. In a lot of ways, our vehicles are extensions of our homes and we are afforded a certain amount of privacy.
Hanging Out With Friends
This is where things got a bit tricky for me because I felt kind of nervous. I wore an undershirt, dress shirt and sweatshirt but still worried that if someone gave me a hug or patted me on the back they would feel a bra strap — I know, it was a silly fear
. After all, I was wearing so many layers someone would really have to be looking to find out what I was wearing underneath.
Other than that, I was able to have fun and enjoy the company of my buddies without feeling like I was less of a man or somehow embarrassing myself — I consider this a big step for me. I’ve never crossdressed in any capacity around friends before.
Around The House
Since I tend to wear a bra around the house occassionally – especially when I don’t have the time or motivation to dress up completely – there was nothing new to report here. Sleeping, however, is another issue entirely. I found that I’ve had no trouble thus far falling asleep — something that I did have trouble with in the past. Years ago, whenever I would dress up and then keep the bra on, I would find that the excitement would speed up my heart rate and make it very difficult if not impossible to fall asleep.
Another area that I knew would this bra experiment would impact was showering. After drying off, there was the issue of putting on a bra, every time with no exception. Dare I say that it is starting to become habit? I guess with another week or so it will really be solidified.
Laundry day took on a new angle when I finally had to wash the few bras that I owned. Normally this isn’t something I do since I’ve been dressing so infrequently, but into the hamper they went just like any other article of clothing worn. I made sure to wash them separately and on the gentle cycle, making them fresh for another week of wear
.
Bra Shopping
I needed to address the lack of bras in my wardrobe so my wife and I went out shopping for some. Unfortunately, the stores we checked did not have great prices so I ended up buying a two pack of sports bras. Sometime soon we’ll probably go out again.
On To Week 2
So, that about wraps up everything I wanted to report from the first week, I will try my best to get another update sooner than next week. Also, I haven’t been able to grab any pictures yet but I will try to get something soon. Thanks for reading!

Terrific update Jessica on an interesting, and scientifically vital experiment! I have never immersed as long as you are planning (or already have) so I really look forward to hearing how things work out for you.
Interesting how quickly things become habitual. Will be interested to hear at the end if there are any withdrawal symptoms.
As far as picking up a new bra or two goes, may I recommend a quick visit to JCP – the clearance racks have some nice things in the under $10.00 range. Soma too has a good amount of really nice quality stuff at crazy prices, much better than the dreck you find at VS during their big sales. And if you cannot score at a TJ Maxx, then I just don’t know what to say.
More frequent updates please! Tweet the odd observation would you?
Cheers – Petra
Thanks Petra
!! I’m going to check out the stores you suggested and see if I find something that I like.
Sounds exciting! Keep it up, girl. As I suspected, it will become “habit” for you – just like putting on your socks or something. I appreciated your comments about the time with friends – I’m glad you were able to relax and enjoy it!
You Go, Girl!
Yay! Yea, so far it’s becoming slightly habitual for me.
Great update so far, but us girls like detail of course,
What color is your bra?
What Size and are you using anything to help fill it or are you going natural?
Have you thought about different styles like a long line or all in one.
I wish you have a great experience wearing. I have found that here in the office after starting to wear every day a couple of woman must have noticed through my shirt which then I recieved a hand on my shoulder while I was working on the computer with my back towards her.
Nothing was mentioned but I see that knowing smile at times as we pass in the isles.
Yes it has been a great experience for me and I still wear one every day.
Best Wishes and hugs Emma
Thanks for the suggestions Emma, I will incorporate them into my next update
.
I find the idea of shopping for a bra fun no matter what. I resented buying anything of male persuation but put me in a place where female clothing is and I could go forever. Even when I was very young I wanted to go to the girls clothing section. It only became worse with age.
I wore a bra for two days recently but not at night and found it rather comfortable to have on. I dont know if this is just mental reenforcement but it comes very naturally to me.
Im enjoying what you have to say on your experiment. Keep it up.
Yea, I love bra shopping. More so than my wife, in fact. She’s always teasing me about that. Thanks for the comment Leslee
Interesting entry
Thank you!
you cant go wrong with sports bras thats what i have most of.plus they are harder to detect cuz they hug so close to your chest.i have developed the habit of every day no matter what i put on pantyhose or knee highs.i havent worne a sock in monthes, the only time i dont wear hose is when im doing flip flops.funny i dont give a second thought any more.
Yea the sports bras are pretty comfortable too
My job is such that lets me ware layers, so it tends to cover any bra line. Lately I have been working in a heated space, so now it is eather sweat to death or show a bra line. I like the feel of the bra so much that I ame seeking an outher solution to the layer system.
Good luck, hope you are able to find something
What do you thunk about a camosole?
I am eager to here your report. I mighy do something like that too.
Yours is a brave undertaking!
Camisoles are great, I don’t own any yet though. Thanks for reading Warren
Hey Jessica,
Ever thought about going to a thrift store, Like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or even St Vincent’s. They have a lot of womens things like bras. You can try things on without ppl knowing who you are. I’ve do this for myself, I go into the women’s fitting room to try on Dresses, Bras, Even Shoes. I’ve got alot of really nice outfits from the thrift stores. So if you like give them a try… Dawn
Yea, I’ve tried thrift stores in the past but I’m not really a big fan
On the waering a bra, I’ve worn a bra of many diffrent colours and styles for over 10 ys atlease. It’s become like a second skin to me.
keep up the great work Jessica!
Dawn
