Epic Experiments in Crossdressing – Update #3

by Jessica De Leon on March 9, 2010

Une épaule sinon rienWith the third week of my “bra challenge” completed, I head into the home stretch. In case you missed the details of the endeavor, the introduction is here. My first recap, written a week after I started, can be found here and the second recap here. Now, onward to updating you all on the details of my third week.

Back to Taking Notes

After a couple of weeks of not jotting down my thoughts, I have been more conscious of recording an idea or two each day and this has made it much easier for me to sit down and write this week’s summary.

However, many days are simply passing without anything eventful happening, more on that later. Wearing a bra every day has definitely become something normal at this point in the experiment, as I get out of the shower and almost immediately reach for one. I’m also beginning to really distinguish among the differing levels of comfort that these bras afford.

Sleeping in a Strapless

I tweeted this last week as I was wearing my strapless bra that day, one that required constant supervision because it would not stay in its place. The lack of straps seemed rather pronounced and it certainly bothered me, likely because for the last three weeks I am used to those slender and strong  harnesses clinging to my shoulders twenty four hours per day.

The worst came that night as the darn thing just shifted every which way along my torso and made for some interesting moments throughout the night as I tugged and pulled at the bra, attempting to slide it back into place. When I woke up, my skin was a little irritated and itchy, now I know not to wear this one to bed again.

Around Town in a Push Up

My good friend Petra Bellejambes noted on last week’s update that the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy push-up bra is very likely to make its presence known. The first few times I wore it, I was able to layer with two t-shirts, a sweater and a jacket due to the cold weather. Yes, even with that many layers, it is possible to see two visible (but very small) bumps. So small in fact that unless you were “in the know”, you wouldn’t look twice.

Last week, though, the temperatures rose and thus I couldn’t leave the house with so many layers unless I wanted to sweat and possibly pass out from heatstroke ;) . My solution, in this case, was to wear a hooded sweatshirt, left unzipped. At the end of my day, I ran some errands (groceries and what not) and I felt more than a bit self-conscious about the bumps on my chest. Most of this was paranoia because I did a great job of hiding them.

Doing this was a terrific way for me to confront my fears about cross-dressing in public, even if it was just a bra underneath my sweatshirt. By experiencing this, I was able to make a small step. The risk was small but the reward was grand, and I am happy that I did this.

Sports Bras = Super Comfy

This endeavor has already led to at least one exciting conclusion — sports bras are awesome! I find them to be ultra comfortable and virtually undetectable. When this weekend rolled around and my wife and I were getting ready for our weekly date, I knew exactly which bra I wanted to wear. With just an undershirt and t-shirt to go over it, I was not worried in the slightest about being found out.

These two positives have made me realize that I should add a couple more of these things to my wardrobe. I’m accustomed to wearing tank top style undershirts (been doing so for about fifteen years) but sports bras feel so much more snug on my upper body.

Adjusting My Straps

I’ve developed a habit of adjusting my bra straps whenever the migrate down my shoulders. Whenever this happens,  I am very aware of it and so I pick them back up to feel more comfortable.  I do it without even thinking, three weeks into this experiment, so wearing a buttown down dress shirt with a pull over sweater on top made it nearly impossible to adjust my straps.

It was Sunday and we were in church. I love to dress my best for these occasions and I happened to be wearing the 38holymoly bra that day (which is much too big for me). Throughout the service, I so badly wanted to fiddle with my straps because they had both slid down to my upper arms. Unfortunately, there was no way of accomplishing this short of conspicuously digging my entire hand and wrist into my shirt. So I had to just grin and bear it, also leading me to the conclusion that after this experiment is over, this particular bra will be headed to the donation bin!

Wife

It’s interesting to note my wife’s reactions throughout this whole endeavor, and it should be highlighted that this has also become normalcy in her eyes. She told me over the weekend that she often forgets all about my experiment and is surprised when she remembers. The first week of this saw her grabbing at my chest upon our encounters, to see if I was keeping my promise.

Lately, I notice that she peers down at my chest, even as we are having a conversation! Quite the perfect example of the shoe on the other foot, or should I oblige and say, the bra on the other chest. It is usually me doing the staring at her chest, so having it the other way around was very amusing, to say the least

On a more serious note, this epic experiment has made me even more secure and comfortable cross-dressing around my wife. As I mentioned before, there are plenty of times at home when I’ll wear a bra to slightly satisfy my feminine side. Many times, though, this is done without her knowing. Before she would get home I would remove the undergarment even though she would have no problem with it.

These terrific three weeks have put me more at ease in blurring the gender lines in front of my wife. Perhaps also in front of myself as well, I will touch more on this subject next week.

Finally, I’m trying to get my wife to pen some of her musings from the last few weeks, so hopefully she’ll be able to throw something together soon. Thanks for reading and commenting, look forward to the conclusion next week!

Hi Jessica,
I really appreciate your updates. I am glad to see that you talk about blurring the gender lines in front of yourself as well. Sometimes, we get confused when confronted by societal norms. Thank you!

You are going through what girls go through over a period of years in a short period of time. You must have inspired me as I had to wear my bra all day yesterday under my sweat shirt. It felt totally normal to me. I even exercised with it on. I must get a sports bra as that is my wifes favorite also and it does look comfortable. .You’ve talked me into a spots bra.

1) It has been my experience with the strapless bra that women have no prob with it because they actually have something there to hold it in place! ~~giggle~~

2) If you’re going to get rid of the 30 HolyMoley – SEND IT TO ME!!! ~~giggle again~~

Keeo it up, Sister!
