Epic Experiments in Crossdressing – Update #4

by Jessica De Leon on March 16, 2010

Charmode Marvelift BrasAnd so it ends, the first ever “Epic Experiment in Crossdressing”, wearing a bra everyday for a month. Time has seemed to speed by as I experienced this interesting journey and here we are at the end. I’ve actually learned a lot during the past four weeks and will share my conclusions as well as what is next on the agenda (the experiment is not quite over).

Of course I must first thank my wife for her support during this time, without her I could not have done this. I also want to express my gratitude to all of you for reading, following along and sharing your thoughts with me during my bra wearing adventure. When I thought up this idea a few months ago I knew that it would be an interesting (to say the least) undertaking.

[Note: I apologize in advance for the length. I sat down thinking this would be short and sweet but the post took on a life of its own and is a tad longer than usual. So grab the popcorn and a diet soda before you start reading ;) .]

Before you begin, you can get up to speed by reading the previous posts, linked below.

Nothing To Report?

The final week of my experiment strangely enough came and went without anything noteworthy. While I continued to keep things on track, nothing noteworthy really occurred which leads me to believe that this really started to become habit. The one interesting thing I’d like to report is that one day I was bumming around the house in basketball shorts with no pockets. Since I keep my cell phone on me at all times, I stuck it inside of my bra for convenience — :D .

The Results

In mid-February I set out to wear a brassiere every single day — no matter where I was or what I was doing — for one whole month. Did I accomplish this feat? In every sense of it, yes I did! The only times I didn’t wear a bra were during showers of course, but other than that my cups were strapped in.

During the first day or so, I was very unsure about whether or not I would make it the full month without cheating or breaking the streak. However, once I had several days under my belt, it became much easier.

Before I forget, it bears noting that I did not capture any photos and “daily” note-taking dwindled significantly as time wore on. Chalk that up to laziness or, perhaps, of this action becoming more of a habit as opposed to something unique and out of the ordinary.

Success was also achieved in concealing the bras and as far as I can tell, I was never discovered or outed during this time. Whether it was several layers over a padded bra or a sports bra that is undetectable, I was (for the most part) confident in moving about in public, at work and even at home (wife).

Answering the Questions

Will wearing a bra become boring, tedious and/or annoying?

Certainly not boring, even after one full month of doing so. Every time I put on a bra there was a certain excitement or at least a brief moment of happiness. I was so sure that it would become mundane but to my surprise it really didn’t. While the heart-pounding adrenaline rush disappeared quickly, the feeling of the straps hugging my shoulders maintained its appeal. I’d be willing to bet that it would take several more months — possibly even a year — before wearing a bra daily started to arrive at the heels of becoming dull.

As far as finding it tedious, I will say that there were a couple of instances that I had a small temptation to just throw on a shirt and go braless just for the sake of convenience. I did have to consider the day’s activities when choosing which bra to wear that day. The thicker the padding, the more layers I piled on to effectively conceal what I had on underneath. This became as routine as choosing which type of socks to wear.

Wearing a bra only became annoying when I wore one that was uncomfortable as I found the irritation only grew as the clock ticked away. Not only did this help me discover that bras can be comfy, but also which styles in particular were the most cozy. Beyond this, there were the normal, everyday types of irritations — an underwire digging in too much or a strap constantly falling down and needing to be adjusted but I never became frustrated and beyond the first couple of days I never considered stopping due to annoyance.

Will wearing a bra irritate my skin?

On the second evening of my experiment I unhooked my bra and found dozens of tiny red bumps around my chest, shoulders and back. They didn’t hurt or itch but they looked darn ugly. My wife hypothesized that I was allergic to the material but after I did laundry and wore it again the bumps did not reappear. Blame it on a dirty bra, I guess ;) .

Apart from this incident, I found my playtex bra to be a tad itchy and irritating but nothing that left any damage. When it was time to shower and I removed the bra I sometimes found red indentations and small lines but nothing out of the ordinary — they quickly vanished.

I even tested the limits by working out in non-sports bras, convinced that I would find my chest irritated, itchy or even chafed. However, nothing unusual resulted out of this. So, at the end of this month of bra-wearing, my skin is still in tip-top shape.

Will I, at certain points, forget that I am wearing a bra?

A very emphatic yes here, as there were countless moments during which I completely forget about my supportive undergarment. It really was quite fascinating and exciting. This result was one of the things I was most looking forward to, because I really wanted wearing a bra in ‘male mode’ to go from taboo to habit.

Within the first few days I was experiencing bouts of “bra-nesia”. One time I even had a split-second freak out because I thought I had forgot to put on a bra altogether. Having a bra blended into my everyday life and went from forefront news to the back burner of my thoughts.

Will doing the laundry take on new significance?

Because I wasn’t able to purchase some new lovelies for use during my experiment, I was forced to do a load of laundry every few days. Luckily my washer has a delicates setting and I was able to be frugal by washing both my and Rebecca’s bras together.

The first time I did one such load I cracked a smile and then put them back in the drawer, elated because this was a new experience.

At what point, if any, will it shift from “crossdressing” to “habit”?

This is a tricky one, and possibly a question that I cannot yet fully answer. I know that after a couple of weeks putting a bra on became routine and I never even sideswiped the prospect of forgetting. When I consider it in depth, I suppose that putting on a bra did arrive at the same level (or at least very close) as putting on my underwear.

Before I started this experiment, wearing a bra under my male shirts was something that caused a significant clash, at least mentally. While I always wanted it to be insignificant, there was always the thought that I was unsuccessfully blurring the gender lines. The stark contrast created by a delicate and pretty bra paired with men’s clothing was something I just couldn’t get past.

Thankfully, at least for the moment, I am able to overcome this small obstacle and now see this in a new light. As a matter of fact, in some cases (sports bra and gym shorts, for example) the clothing seems to blend together perfectly. It seems as though I have arrived at an internal balance where it is possible to wear a bra underneath my shirt without having feelings of embarrassment, shame or anxiety.

Will this last? Well this is something that I will have a better grasp on with more time. For now, though, I am able to ‘underdress’ in ways I wasn’t able to before

What feelings will my wife experience?

Although I am still hoping for a blog post by my lovely wife, I will fill you in on some of what she has experienced. For the first week or so she would rub my back or grab at my chest to make sure that I was wearing a bra. She stated many times that she had no problem with this and would often forget about it completely.

She did keep up with my writings and made it clear that she enjoyed the progress I was making and the impact I was having on my readers. However, because she didn’t always keep in mind that I was wearing a bra, it is still a little weird for her to witness the male/female clashing.

I promise that I will do my best to get her to carve out some time to write more about her feelings — perhaps a comment or two below will aid in the convincing ;) .

At the end of the trial, will I miss wearing a bra?

It is obvious that I am not able to speak on this as of yet. The bra did come off at 12 AM EST, March 16 2010 but it is not known how not wearing a bra will effect me.

I must express that during the last couple of days I found myself a little sad that my trial was coming to an end. During the next week, I will consider everything and may find myself wearing a bra more often, if not all the time. Stay tuned.

Is there anything in particular that you are curious about that I didn’t cover? If so I encourage you to leave your question below in the comment section, I will be sure to answer it.

Looking Forward

In addition to next weeks update (which will be the conclusion), there are a few more Epic Experiments in Crossdressing that I have cooked up. At the moment I’m not fully sure of when I will start the next one nor have I completely ironed out the details, but they are coming soon.

I sincerely hope that you enjoyed following along with me during this month. I had a great time and find myself excited by both the results and the prospect of future experiments. Thank you for reading and commenting!

Very good experiment. Thank you for sharing it with everybody. Can’t wait to read what your going to do next. Do hope that your wife will write something. It will be nice to hear her views and comments on the last four weeks.

Your experiment has got me thinking about doing my own. I might send you an e-mail personally cause I would rather not say here.

Regards,
Veronica =)

Thank you for allowing us to share in your experience – I, too, anxiously await your wife’s feeling and comment on the matter.

Maybe the next experiment could be with wearing hose for a month – panty hose, thigh highs, knee highs, keeping legs clean shaven, etc etc etc

Peace
Julie Michelle

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. Was very interesting for me because I had a similiar experience with my hubby.
One question remains: Does it become a habit by now?
Keep us updated.

I’m currently working through a self-imposed bra embargo so that I can write about my experiences next week ;)

If you haven’t found this site yet, It is a very good helpful site about men wearing bras. Many men due to medical reasons need and do wear bras everyday. Many men enjoy wearing bras every day.

A very interesting experiment, I enjoyed following you, as I always enjoy all of your posts. I truly hope you wife does write a post. I am supportive genetic woman of my cross-dressing guy, however I still have moments here and there when I am confused by the male/female clashing. I would love to read the thoughts of someone like myself.

Can’t wait to read what you have planned next.

Good series. I am curious as to how often you will be wearing a bra as part of your underdressing on a going forward basis.

My question relates to whether or not you wore your breast forms during the experiment. My bras feel totally different when I have the forms in place. They are actually more comfortable with the forms than with just empty cups. You mentioned forms in one of your earlier posts in this series but did not mention whether you wore your forms as part of your daily regimin.

I am curious about that as well :) . In fact, my wife and I were discussing this on Tuesday. We’ll see how things shake up.

To answer your question, no I didn’t wear my forms at all during the month, but yes they make a big difference in the fit of the bra when they are in.

I dont mean to seem dense, but what size bra were you wearing for the month and were you wearing the size 5 forms full time? I often wear a bra all day, but if the size is 42AA, no one will have any clue unless I am wearing a t-shirt.

I tend to wear 36D and 38c, and no I wasn’t wearing the forms, they sat lonely in their box in the closet :( … Thanks for your comment Ari :) !!

(Just back from work. I am a RN and I decided to wear my bra all day at my clinic. No one noticed.)
So just to be terribly clear, you wore the bra alone, with nothing in it? You could up the ante a bit by wearing some very thin forms I have Truelife 533 / Sz. 6. and you would have to really look to notice them. Actually perspiration is my greatest concern. These forms fill a AA cup and almost an A cup. Given the prevalence of obesity and gynecomastia , it is hardly uncommon to have a little breast tissue.

Yes, I wore the bras alone. :)

I have gynecomastia and found a Bra helps with the Jiggle and Sore Spots from movement.

Lane Bryant fit great. They have some new sports bras.
