I found the movie fun not only because of the subject, but because it was filmed at my high school (which was torn down shortly after). My nephew even has a part as an extra in the prom scene. I do remember thinking when I first saw the movie (I was not out, even to myself yet) that she was lucky to be able to switch back and forth so easily, though that is the source of some of the funny bits of the film.....Stephanie

Females are given so much more license when it come to self expression, than males. There are whole lines of "menswear" clothing made exclusively for women, but females are not limited to male styles tailored just for women, they are also perfectly free to wear actual male clothing, without any stigma being attached whatsoever. The only females that are ever considered to be cross dressers are hard butch lesbians, who in addition to wearing men's clothing, sport men's haircuts, and an obvious male swagger.

Seems like there was a time in the mid - late 80's when cross dressing was The Thing. This film for one, and also LITTLE SISTER with Jonathan Silverman and Alissa Milano; TOOTSIE, JUST ONE OF THE GIRLS with Corey Haim (RIP) - just to mention a few.
