Mainstream: Switch (1991 Film)

by Jessica De Leon on April 27, 2010

Once in a while you stumble onto a movie that’s right up your alley without any effort at all. Last year, we had all the movie channels as part of a promotion that the cable company was running. On a lazy Saturday morning, my wife and I were flipping through the guide and I found a movie that was about to start that really piqued my interest.

The film “Switch” centers around a male chauvinist that is murdered by three women that he played. However, he is sent back to Earth and given a second chance at redeeming himself — the twist here is that he is reincarnated as a woman.

Along the way, there are the stereotypical gags that you would expect from most gender-bending comedies, but that didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying the film. I really love entertainment that plays around with the gender norms and highlights the differences between men and women. Some of them are societal and cultural but others are obvious like body differences and such.

“Switch” didn’t enjoy mainstream success but may be worth your time if you get a kick out of films like this. Below is the trailer and part one of the movie (the entire film is available on YouTube, separated into multiple parts).

My fav movie with CD /trans in is really not your stereotypical or poss even Mainstream movie (The World’s Fastest Indian) And she is really only bit part. But the best part is Burt Monro (Sir Anthony Hopkins) treats her like normal woman is that not all our dreams just to treated like lady.

Anyway this lovely true store about a man passion to live his dreams !!!

For 25 years in Invercargill at the south end of New Zealand, Burt Munro (1899-1978) has been working on increasing the speed of his motorcycle, a 1920 Indian. He dreams of taking it to the Bonneville Salt Flats to see how fast it will go. By the early 1960s, heart disease threatens his life, so he mortgages his house and takes a boat to Los Angeles, buys an old car, builds a makeshift trailer, gets the Indian through customs, and heads for Utah. Along the way, people he meets are charmed by his open, direct friendliness. If he makes it to Bonneville, will they let an old guy on the flats with makeshift tires, no brakes, and no chute? And will the Indian actually respond?

I still think this quote sums up a lot “Being a woman it’s not that bad. It’s being both, that’s a b$%^&”

At least that is how I see myself sometimes.

Well, I’m quite envious that this guy disrespected women and got to be reincarnated as one but also that she could get pregnant, find a husband and had a better figure than I could get naturally.
