Back by popular demand is our series of posts here at Jessica Who?, titled “Word of the Week”. In these short articles, published most Fridays, we explore the various labels and umbrella terms used to label us. By doing this, I hope to educate not only myself, but also anyone who may not be familiar with these terms. Feel free to add your own knowledge to each post by leaving a comment
.
The label that we will be examining this week is: MTF
Standard Definition
Not in the major official dictionaries.
Derogatory?
Nay nay.
What’s It Really Mean?
Male to female.
My Take
Honestly, there’s not much to say here but I realized that I hadn’t covered it yet in the Word of the Week. Essentially, this is an acronym to describe the gender presentation of a trans person. In the case of MTFs, they were born male but either feel like a woman or wish to present as such from time to time (frequency may vary
).
Your Take
Have you anything to add? Please leave your take on this word in the comments section, I hope we can open up a dialogue and learn from each other while educating the masses.

There are so many aspects to MTF activity such as:
Thinking about it but not doing it.
Doing it alone (proably the least satisfying}
Doing it with girlfriend, wife or SO.
Doing it with a group of friends.
Doing it on Halloween.
bra & pamties
Fully dressed
One time only
Once a week
Once a month
Every day for several hours
24/7
In public
Not in public
The list can go on and on and there are advocates for all of these.
Take your pick !
Oh ! I forgot an important item.
Underdressing – Femme underclothes and hose
Male or unisex outerclothes
Have fun !
It has connotations for me of someone who is already in transition. I don’t see crossdressers as MTF, since they’re really more MTFBTM
