Over the weekend, YouTube opened up submissions for their “Life in a Day” project where they will select footage from YouTubers lives. Saturday, July 24th was the day to film a piece of your life and submit it to the website.
While I considered participating in this, I decided that ultimately I’m not quite ready to be super-personal with YouTube. However, I felt like I could apply what they were looking for to an article on my blog.
LGBT World – Fears, Loves, Laughs & Pockets
In addition to whatever raw footage you filmed, there were four questions that the director specifically wanted answered. They were:
- What Do You Fear the Most?
- What Do You Love the Most?
- What Makes You Laugh?
- What’s In Your Pockets / Handbag?
Pretty straightforward, eh? Yea, I thought so as well.
My Answers – Trans-Style
When I pondered giving a snapshot of my life to YouTube, I was tossing these questions around my head and was quickly able to come up with my responses. However, now molding these toward the transgender aspect of my life, I have slightly different answers. Submitted for your approval:
What Do You Fear the Most? - I used to fear not being able to get good opportunities to dress up and enjoy my femme side, but now I think that my biggest fear is rejection on stage. I plan on doing stand-up comedy in drag and while this is exciting I do worry about being ostracized or unfairly criticized.
What Do You Love the Most? - Honestly, I love when my makeup is on-point, my outfit is rockin’ and my wig completes the whole look and I’m able to just be myself — humorous, silly and happy.
What Makes You Laugh? - Looking at myself in the mirror and taking in the vision before, during and after the transformation process. Laughing at myself and allowing my wife to verbally jab me takes a lot of the stress away from having a dual-gendered nature. It’s as if with each laugh, the tension melts away that much more.
What’s In Your Pockets/Handbag? – When I do venture outside of my house, I have my wallet, keys, chapstick and cellphone. I suppose that when I do go out again I’ll carry makeup and possibly a can of mace.
And Now, Your Answers
I hope you enjoyed my responses, now it’s your turn: answer these questions in relation to being a crossdresser / transgender person. I’m looking forward to your answers.

What do you fear the most?
Never had the guts to leave my front door, but IF I did…being laughed at, which I was I’ve never had the guts to leave my front door.
What do you love the most?
Being able to express the part of myself I am otherwise unable to.
What makes you laugh?
Jessica De Leon!
What’s in your pockets/handbag?
A mirror to admire my handiwork
Fear?
Well, I don’t fear going out anymore. Did that!
Don’t fear being looked at funny. That happened and was no bid deal!
Never been laughed at. Either I pass somewhat okay or I look dangerous and deranged. Whatever!
I guess I fear not having a good time. Lord, knows I deserve it after all these years.!
Love?
Really nice, good quality shoes! And successful eye makeup that doesn’t look too trampy, but is still dramatic! And helping others, even in little ways, to get over their own fears and start having a good time, too!
Laugh?
Just about anybody who takes themselves so seriously that they get upset at the smallest little daily fuckup! At the boneheads who are worrying themselves sick that the secret agenda of the united LGBTQII(etc) is out to steal their children and make the world a happy place! (Can’t have that, can we?)
Pockets?
wallet, money, pen knife, lighter, cigs, iPod, keys, seashells, fluff … (Cargo pants!)
Handbag?
lipstick(2), brushes(2), compact, calling cards, ID(sorta), money, cell phone, wig brush, lighter, tobacco shreds and fluff(outta cigs!), handcuffs (lost the key!)…:)
You didn’t ask about tattoos or piercings!
