As I was browsing the aisles of Target for some office supplies, I wandered into a sea of backpacks. We are in the midst of “Back to School” and so parents and students are hitting the stores in droves to stock up for the new academic year.
JanSport is one of the more popular brands and can be found in most retail outlets, but the bags that I found had a label that immediately stood out to me!
Trans By JanSport
Wait … what? It strikes me as a little odd that in this day and age they would name a product Trans, especially when it is apparent that the product is not aimed at the Trans community.
Why it’s called Trans I have been unable to discover, but there it is, big and bold on the label.
You can check out these strangely named backpacks here Trans by JanSport and perhaps pick one up to show your Trans pride — hmm.. I wonder if anyone is already doing that?

Ha! Reminds me of the cookbook that I have from Food Network star, Dave Lieberman. It’s called “Young & Hung(ry)” I kid you not. The first time I saw the title, I couldn’t believe a publisher would pick a title for such an innocent cook book. But then again, is anything really a coinkidink these days?
The subtext is EVERYWHERE.
The other day I was in a friend’s car and right there – blazoned on the dash board – “SRS”. Now, I KNOW this refers to the braking system, but my mind went RIGHT to “Sexual Reassignment Surgery”! So I guess the good people at Jansport could have another meaning for Trans – maybe. ~~giggle~~
If you read the Description it mentions a change of cloths. So it could easily be aimed at the Trans community with out directly.
This might mean transporting something but I like my mind to wander off and think of it in different meanings.

SRS actually means “Supplemental Restraint System,” aka airbags. And I did see the Trans bag at Academy when shopping for a new backpack for the kid and I did smile.
