
Expressing inner femininity, halloween fun or performance purposes — these are all typical reasons for crossdressing. Raising money for a charitable organization seems like an unlikely catalyst for gender-bending.

Alas, I came across two news articles documenting the act of transvestism for a good cause, one in the UK and one on NYU’s campus.
This is perhaps one of the best ways for crossdressing to take on a better image in the eyes of society. You can read the stories here and here.
What’s next? Drag Queen Donations? Crossdresser Charities? Transvestite Telethons? Only time will tell

Not quite crossdressing, but here’s the next best thing – many communities across North America now hold some variant of a High Heel Sprint to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for research and palliative care programs.
Men are actively encouraged to participate in these stiletto racing events, and usually compete in their own division. These types of fund-raisers are becoming more and more popular, and the women truly seem to be touched by the support shown by those men who participate in them. Here is an example of one held last year in a Toronto suburb:

These are great opportunities for closeted crossdressers (or wannabees) to publicly put their “girl on”, get all kinds of female adulation for their efforts in the process, as well as be able to provide tangible support for a good cause. That’s a feel-good combo on so many levels, and one which is very hard to beat…
