Last week I posted about a great show called 3rd Rock from the Sun, a sitcom that I am enjoying for the second time thanks to the Netflix Instant Streaming service.
As I was making my way through Season 1, I watched the episode “I Enjoy Being a Dick”, where Dick Solomon (John Lithgow), the leader of the group, crossdresses in order to get into a women’s only meeting.
Dick is pursuing Dr. Mary Albright (Jane Curtin), a colleague at Pendleton State University and goes to great lengths to spend as much time as possible with her. When he finds out that she and administrative assistant Nina (Simbi Khali) are going to a womens’ studies meeting where no men are allowed, he racks his brain.
Having recently purchased some stylish-yet-affordable women’s clothing for Sally, he finally decides to dress in drag in order to infiltrate the premesis. Hilarity ensues.
Toward the end of the episode, Dick comes home and declares, “The woman I love won’t let me be a woman!” Great episode

He also played a transsexual woman in The World According to Garp.

If it hadn’t been so long since the movie version of Garp, I’d fear John Lithgow was getting typecast.

I think I saw that movie, it was a good movie but dried in my option . But a good movie. It remind of some british movies that I saw.
That was one of the funniest episodes of 3rd Rock.
Jessica, have you ever seen the movie “Raising Cain”? John Lithgow is in that movie as well and he crossdresses for one scene. If you don’t like scary movies, you might not like. Just a thought.

watched a few episodes, never really got into it for some reason. Definitely missed that episode. I also like the one where they temporarily change bodies.
