ABC Nightline Airs Transgender Special

by Jessica De Leon on September 6, 2011

Just in time before ABC’s new season of Dancing with the Stars (which will feature Chaz Bono as one of the dancers), Nightline put together an amazing special on transgender folk. There are four parts to it and I have embedded each one of them after the jump.

You may want to grab a drink and a snack before you begin watching these, it is not only informative but very broad in scope.

The first segment centers around “The Princess Boy”, whom we have talked about here before.

This next part focuses on a 10 year old male to female trans girl named Jackie.

In the third segment they interview a man who transitioned to be a woman and then went back to living as a man.

A young trans woman who works as an escort is profiled in this part.

In the final part, we meet Kim Petras.

After finally getting a chance to watch these, I must say how excellent they are. Each one hits a specific topic – crossdressing, young & transitioning, reverse transition and working as an escort. The insight and depth really impressed me and I hope that a lot of people see this special and it changes some views.

You can read their stories here.

I’m sorry to say, but I think you’ve made a mistake here.

There are five parts, you’ve missed the third part about the t-girl who works as a escort, the part about the person transitioned twice and the last part is not about the escorting t-girl but about Kim Petras, a german girl who had her SRS at the age of 16.

I find all of these were really well done and I’m glad ABC was willing to air the special. It really just let the people speak for themselves, which is what I wish would happen more often. Inspiring stuff!
