“Work It” Doesn’t Work Out

by Jessica De Leon on January 23, 2012

This news broke about a week ago, but ABC’s Work It has been fired, which comes as no surprise. The controversial sitcom that ignited a firestorm online goes out with a whimper after only two episodes.

What’s funny is that not only has it been canceled, but the two episodes that did air have been removed from Hulu and the official ABC website. Talk about backtracking!

I reviewed the pilot episode which barely came away with a passing grade. Much to my surprise, however, was how bad episode two, “Shake Your Money Maker” was. Devoid of laughs, full of plot holes and lacking any sort of charm that one would expect from even the worst of sitcoms.

At this point, there is probably not much left to say about Work It. It offended lots of people (even outside of the TG community) and lasted two weeks.

“Take this show and shove it!”

I wasn’t so much offended by it’s subject matter (it was really just a dumb comic premise for dumb man-jokes about women). I was just turned off by how terrible the show was in general. I agree with your analysis: “Devoid of laughs, full of plot holes and lacking any sort of charm that one would expect from even the worst of sitcoms.” It was just a pathetic show and I’m sorry it ever made it to air.
