SheZow the Male to Female Superhero Kids’ Show

SheZow Cartoon

A kids show featuring a male to female transformation? Before I found about this, I would’ve never guessed. A boy named Guy and his sister Kelly find a magic ring and deduce that their recently deceased aunt was SheZow, the female superhero.

Kelly bubbles with excitement upon realizing that she can be the new SheZow, but before she can try the ring on, Guy snatches it and mockingly puts it on. He immediately becomes SheZow.

This show features great animation, good comedy, plenty of “she” puns, super villains, and cool friends. It’s also got a very catchy theme song. I watched the first episode, which sets up the story and then pits SheZow against Coldfinger, the former president of the SheZow fan club.

I really enjoyed the episode and will be checking out more of the episodes when I get some free time. As I was watching it, I couldn’t help but relate with the main character, Guy/SheZow, especially when he utters the line “depends on what I’m wearing”.

If only a show existed like this when I was a kid (this show’s demographic is ages 6-11), I would’ve felt so much better about myself. Well, hopefully it can do that for today’s younger generation.

Though I am a bit biased, I can honestly say that this is a show that can appeal to anyone. It was created by Obie Scott Wade, directed by Gillian Carr, and designed by Kyla May. It currently airs only in Australia, on Network Ten. It would be fantastic if we could get it over here in North America!
